Lusail: A System for Querying Linked Data at Scale

چکیده
The RDF data model allows publishing interlinked RDF datasets, where each dataset is independently maintained and is queryable via a SPARQL endpoint. Many applications would benefit from querying the resulting large, decentralized, geo-distributed graph through a federated SPARQL query processor. A crucial factor for good performance in federated query processing is pushing as much computation as possible to the local endpoints. Surprisingly, existing federated SPARQL engines are not e ective at this task since they rely only on schema information. Consequently, they cause unnecessary data retrieval and communication, leading to poor scalability and response time. This paper addresses these limitations and presents Lusail, a scalable and e cient federated SPARQL system for querying large RDF graphs that are geo-distributed on di erent endpoints. Lusail uses a novel query rewriting algorithm to push computation to the local endpoints by relying on information about the RDF instances and not only the schema. The query rewriting algorithm has the additional advantage of exposing parallelism in query processing, which Lusail exploits through advanced scheduling at query run time. Our experiments on billions of triples of real and synthetic data show that Lusail outperforms state-of-the-art systems by orders of magnitude in terms of scalability and response time. Developing a BIM-based Spatial Ontology for Semantic Querying of 3D Property Information
With the growing dominance of complex and multi-level urban structures, current cadastral systems, which are often developed based on 2D representations, are not capable of providing unambiguous spatial information about urban properties. Therefore, the concept of 3D cadastre is proposed to support 3D digital representation of land and properties and facilitate the communication of legal owners...
متن کاملPrivate Key based query on encrypted data
Nowadays, users of information systems have inclination to use a central server to decrease data transferring and maintenance costs. Since such a system is not so trustworthy, users' data usually upkeeps encrypted. However, encryption is not a nostrum for security problems and cannot guarantee the data security. In other words, there are some techniques that can endanger security of encrypted d...
متن کاملPADX: Querying Large-scale Ad Hoc Data with XQuery
This paper describes our experience designing and implementing PADX, a system for querying large-scale ad hoc data sources with XQuery. PADX is the synthesis and extension of two existing systems: PADS and Galax. With PADX, an analyst writes a declarative data description of the physical layout of her ad hoc data, and the PADS compiler produces customizable libraries for parsing the data and fo...
متن کاملWeb-Scale Querying through Linked Data Fragments
To unlock the full potential of Linked Data sources, we need flexible ways to query them. Public sparql endpoints aim to fulfill that need, but their availability is notoriously problematic. We therefore introduce Linked Data Fragments, a publishing method that allows efficient offloading of query execution from servers to clients through a lightweight partitioning strategy. It enables servers ...
متن کاملDiscovering and Querying Hybrid Linked Data
In this paper, we present a unified framework for discovering and querying hybrid linked data. We describe our approach to developing a natural language query interface for a hybrid knowledge base Wikitology, and present that as a case study for accessing hybrid information sources with structured and unstructured data through natural language queries. We evaluate our system on a publicly avail...
